Also, an Eagle Scout. I’m proud of that one. I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Screenwriting and Script Analysis. If you search for that on IU’s website you’ll come up empty – there’s no film school at IU, so I used the Individualized Major Program to create my own.
After graduation I bought a beater and drove out to LA to find a job in entertainment. Trust me when I say that everyone has their own crazy story of how they broke in… but that’s for another time. During my five years in LA I worked at an A-list talent agency, was an assistant for a writer at Fox and even freelanced for a scripted podcast. But far and away the coolest job I had was at ABC News, where I helped launch and build Lincoln Square Productions’ scripted division from the ground up.
I loved working in Hollywood, but my heart is in the Midwest. I moved to Chicago in 2020, skipped portfolio school to create my own book, and used it to land a freelance copywriting job at closerlook. Freelance quickly became full-time, and I’ve been honing writing skills for marketing ever since.
